The W

In photography, wander

So, we’ve been home from South America for 4 days, but when it comes to reviewing photos, we’re still way down south in Patagonia. I spent a bit of time today perusing some of my photos from Torres del Paine. I have to say, it is much more majestic in hindsight, when you’re not sweating (damn that perfect summer weather), squinting, scrambling over boulders and carrying 25 pounds on your back. Trekking the W (slightly truncated as we skipped the leg along Lago Grey) was sort of a new experience for us. We’re accustomed to exploring the remote beautiful places that inspire bucket lists on our own, without the support system of a lodge and boxed wine at the end of the day. Even though we met some great folks over the breakfasts and dinners in the refugios, it was a bit difficult getting used to the crowds. Although I enjoyed sipping a cocktail while I listened to everyone recap their day, I’m glad we opted to rent tents at the refugios (we lugged our own sleeping bags and pads down to South America) instead of staying in the bunk rooms as it gave us a bit of quiet time. Anyway, here are a few of my photos from the trek (I’m sure Brent will be posting some of his in a day or two):
